I am not a serial killer

Genre: Psychological Thriller
Page Count: 271  pages

John Wayne Cleaver is a serial killer obsessed sociopath who lives above a mortuary owned by his mother. He fears that it is his destiny to become a serial killer, and therefore lives by a set of rules designed to keep his homicidal impulses in check. His careful regime of self-denial is threatened when he attempts to solve a local murder case.

I discovered this book through Instagram and hadn’t heard much about it before, but I can assure you this book is very much worth your time.

The book is beautifully written and gives you great insight into the depth of John Clever’s mind as he struggles with trying to be a good person despite his sociopath diagnosis. This aspect of the book really drew me in and had me hooked on the character journey, if the book wasn’t good enough already a plot twist that occurs midway the book sold me on the series completely.

I cannot remember the last time while reading I was so surprised by twist

If you want to pick up this book I highly recommend not looking anything up so you can experience the same surprise and delight that I did.

Fans of Dexter will enjoy this book as it has a similar tone and feel, and of course insight into the mind of a sociopath.

Overall the book is a wonderfully written character driven book and a fulfilling quick read that will leave you wanting more.

RATING:

★★★★1/2
